Remembering Donimo

April 21st, 2021

I drove out to Ruth Lake this afternoon, just a year since Donimo left us. I wanted to remember her in the place she loved… and see if I can still find her there… The day was much like it was last year, grey and cloudy. The ice a bit further off this year than last, enough for Roxy to have a swim. I had a sip of wine, lit a candle and just as I looked up to the middle of the lake, honest to god, an animal lifted its head above the ice. It can only have been an otter, as it then disappeared under the ice and was gone. Donimo loved the otters. The visitation felt comforting. I’m sending my love to Sarah and all Donimo’s dearests.
