Because I Want to Dream

I have learned much about grief in the last few years. I know that it can sometimes be an endless tide, but that it also brings with it treasures of the deep blue sea.

I wish I’d stopped and taken time over the last few years to have that cup of tea with you both. That time will have to wait now. A bit longer.

In the meantime, here’s a song for you, D, when you have a moment to catch a breath on your journey. Love.

Because I Want to Dream (click to listen)
By Moushumi Bhowmick
(Album “I Had Some Things to Say”)

I heard that the other day you went to touch the blue horizon
riding the waves

I heard that the other day, you walked along the salty shores
for miles and miles

I have never seen the sea
never glided the blues
never caught a glimpse of the seagull’s wings

Next time, when you go to the sea
will you take me along?

Will you?

I heard that the other day, you, you and you
in an ensemble, discussed many complex riddles
and had many unspoken words.

Why this eternal rat-race?
Why endless series of monologues?

……..

I have heard that you all still dream
Still write stories, and
Chant music from the bottom of your soul

The saga of human existence
still makes you think
Love still blossoms like a rose in your hearts.

Today I am here at your doorstep
Like a lost wayward soul,  with open arms
and on bended knees…

 Emptiness in  my eyes,
And long dreamless nights…

To dream I have opened my eyes

That is why I have come to you all

To dream I have opened my arms
towards you.

That is why I have come to you all.
